What is a good HD camcorder that will hold its value so that I may trade up to a Canon HF S21 in April?

I am going on a trip in Feb '10 and need an HD camcorder to replace my old SD miniDV camcorder. I wanted to get a Canon HF S21 for its native 24p capture. Unfortunately, it will not be released until April, after my trip.

I am looking for a good "bridge" of sorts that can capture high-grade footage as well as hold its value (I will keep it in near-mint condition) so that I may trade it in to get the S21 when it comes out.

Note: I have considered the Canon HF S11 or HF S10 for this as they can convert their 60i to 24p artificially without too much of a problem it seems, please give a thumbs up/down for this in addition to any other suggestions.

A JVC will beat a Canon any time.
