It is the season of giving and what better gift than a digital camcorder. If you give this gift first, they can record the rest of the festivities. There are many places online and in store to purchase one of these. As there are many types of these, you will have to take some time to check the specifics of each one to see if it matches what you want out of a digital camcorder. You also need to see if it is within your price budget because they can be expensive.
Sony Handycam DCR-SR68 under $350
This digital camcorder offers ample storage space and a megazoom lens. It is simple to use, with an 80GB hard drive. It is small enough to hold comfortably in your hands. One of the disadvantages is that it has no mic or headphone jacks. It comes in the colors of silver, blue, and red.
Sony Handycam DCR-SR88 under $400
This digital camcorder is like the DCR-SR68 with the exception that it has a 120GB hard drive and costs approximately $50 more.
Panasonic HDC-SD60K under $525
This one offers manual shutter speed, iris controls, comfortable size, and above average autos focus. The only negative thing about this one is that the touch screen has low resolution.
JVC Everio GZ-MS130 under $250
This particular one has good video quality, manual controls, comes with a Remote Control, and a small, comfortable size. This one has several negative things such as a thin grip strip, no inputs, and no optical image stabilization.
Canon VIXIA JF R100 under $300
This digital camcorder has a mic and headphone jacks with a straightforward, functional design. The negative things are poor low-light color and video accuracy and the lens does not focus very closely.
Canon VIXIA HF M30 under $450
This model has nice lens performance and very good video at the highest quality setting. The negative things are a poorly designed touch screen menu system, and a short battery life.
Samsung HMX-R10 under $500
This model has above average feature set, which includes slow-motion movie record. It is also very compact and easy to hold. This one has several negative things about it. Some of them are no mic and headphone jacks, lots of noise in the low light video, and no lens protection.
SVP HDDV2200 Red 5MP under $75
This model has a high resolution, full-motion VGA quality, an 8X digital zoom, and a 2-inch LCD monitor. This one also comes with a SVP 2GB memory card.
Canon VIXIA HF S200 Flash Memory HD under $800
This model comes with two memory card slots and delivers video and 8-megapixel photos with lifelike color and incredible detail. It also has a 3.5 high resolution touch panel LCD and 5.1 channel surround sound.
As you can see, digital camcorders vary in price from under $100 to over $800. Some are over $1000 but these would probably be used by professionals who Video Tape special events. Check different stores before making a purchase. You could find the one you like for a better price.

Has Anybody used the Cobra Digital - Personalized DVC910 RED Digital Camcorder with Flip out color screen?

3D Camcorders Reviewed – Possible Differences among 3D Camcorders
Though 3D movies have been around since the 1950's, the medium has recently made a resurgence into pop culture trends. The basic idea is that the illusion of depth is added to a movie by filming from two perspectives. Special televisions, glasses, etc. are used when viewing 3D films. Because of the need for two lenses to capture the two filming perspectives, a special camcorder is also a must. 3D camcorders reviewed by professionals and average people alike must have a few features in common. Then, there are some added features that set the exceptional 3D camcorders apart from the rest of the pack.
One of the first things looked at is the quality of video by the 3D camcorders reviewed. Most will film in 2D and 3D at 720p or higher. However, some models video at 720p in 2D and VGA in 3D. This is not really adequate quality for modern filming. Great camcorders film in 1080p, or high definition, as well as 3D. Price of the camera varies quite a bit with the resolution, from under ₤100 to above ₤2,000.
Another aspect of 3D camcorders reviewed is the battery. The best battery format is a removable, rechargeable, replaceable battery design, because some video cameras have a built-in battery. This means that when the battery dies, the whole camera may be dead as well.
Camcorders designed to film in 3D can work several different ways. Some will film in 3D, showing in 3D on the viewing screen. Some will only show up in 3D on a 3D television. Some have the capability to transfer to the blue and red 3D format that works when you wear special glasses while watching a normal (not 3D) television. It is always a good idea to check about this issue, because some models require that you have a 3D television in order for the 3D filming to work. Software may be included that allows you to translate the film into the red and blue 3D format that will work on a standard television, or you may have to pay extra for this.
There are even 3D camcorders reviewed that are specifically designed to facilitate sharing on 3D social media sites, like YouTube 3D. The features that set these camcorders apart are their small size, to easily carry around in a purse or large pocket, and a built-in USB stick to upload to personal computer or laptop.
