This mini-camera employs the FireWire interface or what's often referred to as the IEEE 1394b I / F Digital Video serial bus interface which is the standard interface used in high speed digital communications and real time information services. This is also the standard for all Sony PC's and audio-video devices but previous XCD camera modules only have a bandwidth of eight hundred Mbps while the MV6 can reach speeds of nearly 1600 Mbps using the FireWire interface.
You may think this decrease in size can affect the video quality output from the camera, but the MV6 uses the newest in FPGA technologies in its third type wide VGA worldwide shutter that will deliver prime quality photographs, hi-performance levels but at only a small part of it energy usage levels. Other XCD camera modules have the same performance but not in a very compact and small package the MV6 features.
The MV6 is ideal to be used with many commercial environments that have space constraints but require high resolution video output. These take in precision economic applications like automated optical inspection systems, wire bonding, food processing and sorting, bottle inspection and pharmaceutical inspection. The mass feature makes the camera very easy to hide, making it ideal for use with wireless security and surveillance camera systems.
Standard mini camera modules can cost from as low as $49.95 For cameras with black and white output, to as high as $199.95 For colour output. The XCD-MV6 has a black and white output and will very likely have a ticket between these price ranges when it is made available towards the end of the present year.

Lightroom for a Canon A3100 Camera?
Hi,
I have a DSLR camera and I'm using lightroom to improve my photos (I use RAW all the time). As far as I know, the develop module is based on Camera RAW.
My friend bought a Canon A3100 camera. This camera doesn't shoot RAW. Can she use lightroom to improve her photos ? Thank you!
I believe it will work with jpgs and .tif files also. The problem with jpgs is that it is a compression format and when you open a file, change it, than save the same file with changes you re-compress the entire image and doing so multiple times will degrade the image in multiple ways. With that in mind I would suggest to take the jpgs, open and save a copy as a tif, save the tifs as your working files, then use the tifs as your base file for any manipulation in lightroom photoshop or whatever software you use. Leave the original jpgs untouched than if you want to do something else with the same image , again open the jpg save a copy as a tif than work on that tif and save it. Than when you want to print or share the image save/convert as a jpg to save space and for faster emails.

CCTV cameras are among security products that have been forecast to maintain a steady growth trajectory until 2008.
Mainland China and Taiwan are increasing their presence as providers of CCTV cameras. The mainland produced at least US$100 million worth of CCTV cameras in 2004. Taiwan's share of the global market, meanwhile, was estimated to be at least 25 percent.
CCTV camera manufacturing in mainland China is centered in Guangdong province, which hosts about 80 percent of makers. In Taiwan, production is still largely maintained in Taipei.
Manufacturing capability
Taiwan makers have longer manufacturing experience than their mainland China counterparts. Many of these Taiwan companies have four to 14 years' experience in manufacturing, and three to 13 years in the CCTV camera business. Thirty-five percent of mainland companies are relatively new in the line — having at most five years' experience in the business.
Board, water-resistant, dome and speed dome, and miniature cameras compose the bulk of mainland China makers' CCTV camera line. In Taiwan, production is mostly centered on dome and speed dome cameras.
Sixty-three percent of mainland companies have 20 percent to 50 percent unused production capacity, while 75 percent of Taiwan makers have more than 50 percent unused capacity.

In 2004, mainland China and Taiwan makers exported US$216.2 million and US$76.5 million worth of CCTV cameras, respectively.
Asia and North America are the leading export destinations. They accounted for 42.9 percent and 70.8 percent of export sales of respondents in mainland China and Taiwan, respectively.
