Why To Consider Taking Photography Courses
If you have a camera and have never taken any photography courses, you are probably missing out on a lot of the things that your camera can do. Especially newer digital cameras have a wide range of specialized functions that are not utilized during the 'point and shoot' method of picture-taking that most amateurs perform.
Taking a proper course on the subject can teach you how to focus your camera properly, how to solve problems such as shaking, and how to employ certain steps so that your photos are always the best that they can be. Learning how to set up your camera the same way that professionals set up theirs will allow you to see what the benefits of experience have taught these master photographers.
Cameras have various modes that are usually available by turning a dial or flicking a switch. Some have settings that you may not even know about, and many times amateur photographers are unsure about which mode to use in a given situation. The manual can help some, but getting more detailed advice from professionals in the field will probably be of greater use.
Things like horizontal and vertical lines that you can make your camera display in order to locate the subject of the photo optimally on the screen, and adjustments in the exposure compensation settings are capabilities you might not even know your camera has. They are easy to use once you know how, but if you don't do some careful exploring or take a course on the subject, you probably wouldn't ever find them.
Something that people who are used to film cameras might not even think about is that their Digital Camera's flash can likely be turned both up and down, as well as on and off. This allows for better exposures at all levels of light, because the flash can be customized to the situation. Important information like this can only be learned though careful study of your camera, whether via a course or researching the subject yourself.
Learning how to take better pictures isn't all that you can learn. Check before enrolling, but some classes even offer training on what to do with your photographs after they have been taken, in order to improve the picture. This includes things like when to crop photos and why, and how much and which parts of the photos should be cropped.
Of course, not everyone has the time or money to go to a course on the subject, so there are DVDs of the classes available from some companies online. Once you receive the discs, you can watch them at your leisure when you have the free time, and stop the recordings while you try things out on your camera. You can also re-watch the discs as many times as necessary if you are having trouble understanding something.
The main advantage to taking photography courses is that everything you wanted to learn about your camera is right there in one place. You could fairly easily learn all this by yourself, if you sat down and thumbed through the information about your camera in the manual and online, but you wouldn't know what was important, or how to best utilize all the different abilities a digital camera has. By taking a course, you can learn from the pros what you should and shouldn't do for perfect pictures.

Venture Photo Studios - can i ask for the photos i bought on disc?
a few years ago i went to a photography studio called Venture and bought several photos, they cost me over £3,000. They still own the photos by law but can i ask them for copies of at least the ones i bought on disc?
Best to negotiate a deal with the photographer, our opinions here are a moot point.

Photography Has Been Revolutionized by Digital Technology
Since the beginning, photography has been an important part of our lives. From recording histories important moments, to catching our individual memories, photography has documented the good, the bad and the indifferent. Over time, broad advances in photographic equipment and techniques have allowed the craft to become an art form. As it moves forward even more, photography and the field of practice change continually, providing never ending challenges for professional photographers of all levels who work in the field. We've compiled a brief history of modern photography here:
What is Digital Technology?
Digital technology can best be described as a system, which is defined using pieces and parts that require the use of binary or digital logic, which consists of either 1 or 0. Luckily, you won't ever need to master this machine language as your digital camera uses a micro controller or processor to translate. It will also have on board storage and internal software that is used to perform all of the decision making processes from the tiny to the complex.
What is Digital Photography?
Basically, digital photography is all photography created using digital technology or equipment to capture the images. In the beginning and up until a few years ago, photographic film was the main ingredient used in photography. Leaps and bounds in the field of digital technology caught the eye and the imagination of camera manufacturers and photography evolved alongside the rest of technology. Because of this, now you can print, store and easily display your pictures right on your digital camera. If you don't wish to edit or store your images on your camera, you can always transfer them to your computer and utilize your hard drive for storage.
The advent of modern digital technology has changed photography permanently.
- Traditional film is now obsolete, thanks to digital technology. It is no longer required to capture images. Pictures taken are stored instantly on your camera. If you don't like an image, all you have to do is erase it, the turn around and take another. You never waste time and money developing film and never knowing exactly how the picture will turn out. Now you only keep the pictures you want.
- Modern digital cameras have huge storage capabilities. You can store your pictures indefinitely, whether you store them on your camera, on your computer's hard drive, or on a removable storage disc. Originally, you couldn't store your film as it would degenerate over time, and if you wanted to reprints of your pictures you had to have the negatives and pay to have them developed.
- You have a myriad of options with digital photography. Store your images, delete your images, edit your images, with so many options you can manage your memories as you wish and at any whim you may have. Most importantly you can print as many copies, whenever you wish of any photograph that you have.
- Digital technology is instantaneous. In the now generation that we live in, we are used to having access to all parts of our world instantly and digital photography is no different. Each image that you capture you can review, edit and even print them instantly. Historically, there were so many laborious steps involved in image development before you could review photos, and the editing process was nearly impossible if you weren't trained in the art of the dark room. Factor in the money and time these steps took and photography wasn't exactly accessible to everyone.
- Digital technology gives photographers the power. The ability to enhance and even add to images(such as text or date) right on the camera empowers even the most novice of photographer.
- Advanced photography skills are easy to master using digital technology. Changing the ISO speed is now as simple as pressing a button, as a matter of fact, in many cases it is automatic. You can adjust and set up modern digital cameras with an ease that was very complicated with older cameras. You can utilize all of the settings that often mean the difference between a professional and an amateur photograph.
- Professional photographers save time and money using digital photography, which creates a quicker final product and a much bigger return on their investment in time and materials. This also means a much happier client, as in the past it took much longer to receive the final photographs which also delayed payment.
- Modern digital cameras are small, lightweight and easy to tote from location to location. With new streamlined designs, they make getting that perfect shot that much easier.
- Perhaps the biggest advantage is the elimination of the dark room. Photo printers make printing your photos as easy as pushing a button. There are a huge variety of computers and printers that are affordable making the cost of traditional film processing no longer necessary.
There are so many changes in modern photography due to the evolution in digital technology, that it would take more room than we have here to list them all. If you would like to learn more about these advances you can simply visit your local digital camera retailer. Be sure to choose one that is obviously targeted to professional photographers and the customer service representatives will be able to answer any questions you can think of. A specialty store is more likely to have a staff with specialized knowledge than a retail chain store.
