What is the difference between Flash memory and hard drive memory on an Ipod.?
I understand that the Flash memory Ipods usually have less than a Gig memory, small and don't skip when playing music when riding or moving around. Whereas the Hard Drive versions have many Gigs of memory but skip sometimes if jared but can load more music and play whole movies.
The iPod shuffle and the iPod nano have always used flash memory so they cannot be less than a gigabyte because the iPod nano had capacities of upto 4GB, now the iPod nano is available in capacities of upto 8GB.
Flash memory is solid state memory where there are no moving parts and data is stored on floating gate transistors within the flash drive.
Hard disk iPods are in available in higher capacities now upto 80GB.
