Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid Exterior and Interior Overview

Do not let the initial appearance of the Tahoe Hybrid fool you; while the vehicle looks very similar to the normal Tahoe, there are several smaller differences. For one, the vehicle is far more aerodynamic, as the body of the SUV has been altered enough so that air smoothly passes over the car instead of causing air dragging. The SUV's D-pillar was given a revision and now the car has flared ends at the run boards which deal with effectively reducing wind resistance. It's not just supposed to look cool, the SUV's body has a purpose. The entire new look of this vehicle seems to make the SUV more efficient, but has the added bonus of looking sleek.

The hybrid's hood has now changed to sport grilles, as well as air vents that are able to increase air intake, which makes engine cooling much easier for the hybrid than standard gas-powered SUVs, the body of the Tahoe hybrid is designed to assist in eco-friendly functioning of the vehicle.

In speaking on the hybrid's actual composition, the Tahoe's hood and liftgate are constructed from lightweight aluminum, which helps the hybrid weigh less, which eases strain on the engine. Integrated hybrid motors are not light, in fact, they can weigh up to 400 pounds that lightweight hybrids need to be able to handle. Every little bit counts with this vehicle.

The Tahoe Hybrid sports wheels that are specifically designed for low resistance. Considering the lightweight of the car, the tire design is more efficient for a hybrid SUV than regular tires. Stylistically, the hybrid is sleek and fashionable, with colors for the exterior ranging between silver, sport red, black and amber. The Tahoe Hybrid logo has been replaced by a badge on the C-pillars' liftgate. Overall, the Tahoe Hybrid has the same height and length expectations as any other SUV with a more timely update.

Interior

In considering the interior of the vehicle, the important thing to note is that Chevrolet is a luxury provider, and so anything less than sophisticated and exquisite would be a disappointment. Thankfully, the interior of the vehicle looks just as fantastic as the outside, and the cabin is just as spacious and comfortable as to be expected in a normal Chevrolet Tahoe. Because the vehicle is an SUV, the interior is standard for a gas-powered car, but for a hybrid, it is a bit of an exception.

The comfortable space in the cabin can easily fit up to eight people, which makes using the vehicle for work purposes, as well as for personal errands. After all, the cargo space in the trunk can certainly hold enough groceries for a large family, or even carry lumber and supplies or luggage. It would be ideal for family getaways, long picnics and out-of-town weekend vacations. After all, there would certainly be enough room to carry a picnic basket or camping gear.

Because it is being advertised as a luxury sports utility vehicle, I am sure there is concern as to whether or not the Tahoe Hybrid is still a work truck, capable of doing the labor needed from an SUV. No need to worry, while the interior is cozy and comfortable, there is a ruggedness to the material. In fact, the material of the interior can handle abuse and messes like any other SUV, as well as being able to handle tough and high impact environments that would be found in construction sites. This vehicle is designed to bring comfort to dealing with these heavy duty activities. Thanks to the cargo capacity, it is also quite easy to carry equipment, building materials and tools.

Taking a glance at the front seat, the seats for the driver and passenger are comfortable, cozy and luxurious. These seats are also elevated, giving excellent visibility to the drivers of the SUV. While the dashboard has an instrumentation panel, considering this is a hybrid vehicle, there are additional gauges and meters for measuring the efficiency of the hybrid motor.

In the second row, as there are three rows of seats, the seats have been changed and redesigned to that they can accommodate the location of the hybrid battery pack that is placed beneath these seats. The final and third row is the same as a conventional Chevrolet Tahoe with folding seats and that make storage much more accessible.

Like many luxury vehicles, there are several bells and whistles that can be placed throughout the Tahoe Hybrid. While optional, there are packages that include a sophisticated audio system, DVD entertainment systems, navigational programs, as well as a rear camera. This feature tends to be skimmed over, however, the rear camera allows the driver to see on the dashboard screen. Instead of that convenience and comfort, though, some consumers simply prefer the simple pleasures of cup-holders for all. Oddly enough, the simplicity of cup-holders has apparently been overlooked by the competition.

Which hybrid car should I get:?

I have two kids, so I need third row seating, DVD player, Navagation system, and XM radio. I was looking at the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, but I need help. Any advice? Thx.

Like the other answerer, I wonder why two kids means you need three rows of seats. I'd think one of the slightly smaller hybrid SUVs like the Ford Escape or the Saturn Vue would be a better value than the Highlander.

This remake of the 1956 horror classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers moves the action from small-town USA to 1970s San Francisco and replaces at least part of the original's psychological horror with special effects. Spores rain forth, unseen, from outer space, and soon strange flowers begin popping up all over the city. After bringing one of these hybrid specimens home with her one night, biologist Elizabeth Driscoll (Brooke Adams) notices that her live-in boyfriend, Geoffrey (Art Hindle), doesn't seem like himself; he's cold and distant and somehow just not quite there. When she turns to her friend Matthew Bennell (Donald Sutherland), a colleague at the Department of Public Health, he convinces her to see his friend Dr. Kibner (Leonard Nimoy), a pop psychologist who argues that the problem is all in Elizabeth's head. Soon, though, Matthew and Elizabeth begin to notice that people all over the city are changing subtly and inexplicably. When their friend Jack Bellicec (Jeff Goldblum) and his wife Nancy (Veronica Cartwright) find a lifeless, half-formed doppelganger covered with plant fibers in the mud baths they own and operate, the group of friends finally begins to understand that a sinister transformation is sweeping their city. Kevin McCarthy and Don Siegel, respectively the star and director of the original film, have small roles in the new version, as does an unbilled Robert Duvall. ~ Brian J. Dillard, Rovi

Star Trek: The Original Series - Season Two [8 Discs] [Hard Plastic Molded Case]

Star Trek: The Original Series - Season Two [8 Discs] [Hard Plastic Molded Case]

$68.35

The second volume of the updated, remastered Star Trek original series is part of what is already a mis-matched set. The first season, released while HD-DVD was still being marketed, was issued as a set of HD-DVD/DVD hybrid discs, the two formats represented on opposite sides of each platter. HD-DVD disappeared in the interim, apparently just before the manufacturing phase of this set was reached, but after it had been designed - thus, the platters here are designed as double-sided discs, and look like double-sided discs, but without the HD encoded side, so they are single-sided platters (you'd think someone at Paramount would have thought to simply put the original versions of the episodes on the empty sides... ) The episodes themselves, as one would expect, look sensational. Some shots look downright 3-D, even on an ordinary monitor. The full-screen image (1.33-ro-1) is so crisp and bright that it is like seeing many of them for the first time, even for this reviewer, who saw these all on their original network broadcasts (and many times since), and not even because of the new digital effects. Yes, the CGI-generated images of the Enterprise in space, or the more realistic planet-scapes, as well as the larger-than-life apparitions (such as in "The Doomsday Machine" and "Obsession" go a long way to making those episodes work better than ever; but when the image is sharp enough to reveal skin textures in medium shots, and color comes through as it was originally seen on the set and meant to be lit, one finds it makes world of difference in terms of what we're seeing, and in achieving that willing-suspension-of-disbelief that is essential to most science fiction. And the producers of these CGI-enhanced editions deserve credit -- on this particular season of the series, which includes an episode ("The Immunity Syndrome") that won an award for its visual effects, they had to walk a finer line between enhancing the original episodes and obliterating some of their original appeal, than was required for the first season or the third season of the series. Otherwise, one has to say that the programming, apart from some clever menu graphics on each platter, is remarkably close to the 2004-vintage set containing the original, non-CGI-enhanced versions of these episodes. The chaptering is the same, and almost all of the special features from that earlier set, except for the text commentary tracks, has been included here. This includes "Billy Blackburn's Home Movies," comprised of behind-the-scenes home movies by the production crew member, made during the production of the series; and the "Star Trek: The Animated Series episode "More Trouble, More Tribbles", which uses this season's "The Trouble With Tribbles" episode as its jumping-off point, with author }David Gerrold's commentary track; and the "Trials and Tribble-ations" episode from "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine", which, similarly, used the episode from this season of the original

Lexus RX 400h Hybrid Exterior and Interior Overview

When looking at the exterior of the Lexus RX 400h Hybrid, most people see a middle sized hybrid version of the popular RX 350 SUV. Of course this makes sense because it basically is the RX 350 SUV with a different engine. What you find on the outside of the 350 you find on the Lexus RX 400h Hybrid. The Lexus RX 400h Hybrid is just more fuel-efficient with its dual electric motors in addition to the gasoline one.

Both vehicles are elegantly styled, and share the same dimensions. There are a couple of differences, like the front grills and round fog lights. The tail lights are different, and the outside paint job comes in a larger variety of colors which are brushed and includes aluminum interior accents instead of the wood trim that is reminiscent of the regular SUV version. The 2006 was noticeably different in that it had wood trim that was called Bird's Eye Maple.

As mentioned before, the 2008 edition includes changes to the exterior such as chrome door handles, revised front grille, and rear spoiler. And don't forget the new 18 inch wheels. Is it enough to attract new customers? Yup. This vehicle is sleek, aerodynamic with a raked windshield and sloping roofline. The whole vehicle has been put together seamlessly and it's assuredly one of the best assembly jobs Toyota has done in a long time.

People who like the outside will love the inside and it's pretty natural to expect only top quality in the cabin. It's spacious and the buyers love it. The cabin can seat five and looks entirely different from the standard RX 350. It makes a statement, claiming its own identity in the SUV world. The driver's and passenger's front seats are well-padded - cushy comes to mind - and everything is well in the driver's reach along the front console. The gauges are easy to read and the wood trim tops it all off. And there is a touch screen information display that gives the driver immediate access to amount of gasoline left, how much charge is in the battery, oil life, tire pressure, and more. This kind of information has become fairly standard on all SUV's, hybrids or not.

The rear seats are just as cushy with plenty of headroom and legroom for taller passengers. There is nothing worse than cracking your skull on the roof whenever you climb in and out of a vehicle. Okay, feeling like a pretzel is worse. The seats have a 40/20/40 configuration which means they can be split and fold down to increase the cargo space. The cargo space isn't the Grand Canyon, but it can hold quite a bit and with both passenger seats folded down, you get 85 cubic feet that can also be reached by the tailgate. There is no third row seat and Toyota's other popular SUV, the Highlander, is the same way. Many of the competitor's vehicles offer an optional third row seat that can be folded down to make cargo space.

The front seats are powered and can move in ten different directions. There are dual climate controls, steering wheel controls, and a six-CD changer with an eight speaker radio system. The second row seats slide and recline. Additional ala carte options include power-tilt steering, sunroof, driver seat memory, leather upholstery, back-up camera, navigations, audio package and rear-seat DVD. Just think how quiet the children will be on that long trip or how nice it will be to shuffle the CDs without having to fumble for the case.
