What lighting Kit would be good for a beginner portrait photographer?
I am looking to start a portrait studio inside my home. I am wondering what lighting kits would be best for the beginner. I am taking pictures of babies and couples mostly. What all do I need? I do not have a lot of money. I am really just trying to figure out what to put in my studio as far as lights go!
If I were just starting with my kit, I would find a cheap yet sturdy lightstand. calumetphoto.com has some that are cheap and pretty good quality. A USED vivitar 285HV. Should run you about 90 bucks. A sync cord to go from your camera to the vivitar 285. Those can be bought from Lon at flashzebra.com. A convertible umbrella...35-45 bucks at B and H. A 5 in 1 reflector. They can be had for about $20 on amazon.com.
I prefer radio triggers to sync cords, but sync cords are more budget minded. There really is no "cheap" way to get good lighting. Cheap, of course is a relative term. Anything over $10 bucks is expensive to me.
