my new radio trigger/receiver says max sync is 1/125s so I set it at 1/125s that I understand What I dont know is what is leaf shutter and 1/250s . ok ok, what is focal plane too
It means that if you try to sync a slave flash with the radio controller, you cannot use a shutter speed faster than 1/125th of a second. The maximum sync speed of the camera itself doesn't have anything to do with it, unless even 1/125th is above the max sync speed of the camera.
The radio poppers cause a slight delay in the flash cycle, that is why they give you that limitation.
Every SLR camera has a max sync speed, ranging from 1/125th for Sony with Steady Shot active, up to 1/500th as mentioned above. This is for a focal plane shutter, which is right in front of the (here it comes!) focal plane. It is a permanent part of the camera. The focal plane is where the lens forms the (hopefully) focused image to be recorded.
Some cameras use lenses that have the shutter in the lens itself, mostly large format stuff. A leaf shutter generally has no "max sync speed" and will allow sync at any speed it can manage. Again, the delay mentioned is due to the radio poppers being introduced into the chain.
