Wii Remote Troubleshooting Tips

The Nintendo Wii is an amazing gaming system that lets you get into the action instead of simply observing it. To do this, you are dependent upon the Wii Remote Control, which is the magic wand that enables your direct participation. When the remote isn't working properly, you don't get to play. It's an excellent idea, if you're a serious Wii gamer, to learn about Wii remote troubleshooting so you can fix problems without sending the equipment back to Nintendo for repairs. To make effective repairs on your own, you should acquire a good Wii repair guide or manual that can give you step-by-step instructions for Wiimote troubleshooting and fixing your remote, as well as other commonly encountered Wii error problems.

A Wiimote Troubleshooting Quick Tip

Before you undertake a major Wii remote troubleshooting investigation to resolve a remote malfunction, try the following fix, which seems to solve a large percentage of Wii remote issues.

Grip the Wii remote with the button side facing downward. With a very gentle force, tap the button side of the remote against your other hand several times, and then see if it operates properly. If you're lucky, you'll have a working remote. If this simple process does not fix the problem, don't despair, but continue below.

Basic Wii Remote Operating Guidelines

If the previous quick fix didn't work to resolve your Wii remote problem, run through the following Wii remote troubleshooting list to ensure that you have set up your system correctly to provide the optimal environment in which the Wii remote can function.

* Ensure that the Sensor Bar cord is plugged into the rear of the Wii console and that the Sensor Bar is centered above or below your television screen.
* Ensure that there are fresh batteries in the Wii Remote.
* Stay within 3 to 10 feet of the television set when using the Wii Remote Controller.
* Ensure that nothing is blocking signals between the Sensor Bar, the Wii console, and the Wii Remote.
* Check for interference from infra-red light sources, such as sunlight, candles, stoves, and fireplaces.
* Check for wireless devices in the area. Cordless phones, wireless computer keyboards or mice, or other similar devices can cause radio wave interference. Move them or turn them off.

Preparing to Synchronize the System

If the setup, described above, did not solve your problem it's possible that the Wii console does not recognize your remote. An indication that this is the case is when you press a button, the remote flashes and then goes out. This is a common problem that can be easily fixed. There are many reasons that a console may not recognize a remote. It could be a new remote, it could be a remote normally configured for another Wii system, or it could be that the original remote has somehow gotten out of sync with the Wii system. The Wii remote troubleshooting steps given below have been known to resolve most of these recognition problems.

1. Press the POWER button on the front of the Wii console to turn off the power. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, wait a few seconds, and plug it in again.
2. Press the POWER button to turn the console back on. When the Health and Safety screen displays, open the small flap on the front of the console and press and hold the red button labeled SYNC. Hold the SYNC Button down for 15 seconds. This clears all syncs on the Wii, giving you a fresh start to re-synchronize the system.

Synchronizing the Remote

Perform the following tasks for each Wii remote that you wish to synchronize.

1. Remove the battery cover on the back of the remote.
2. Locate the small red button just below the batteries.
3. Press and release the red button. This will cause the blue lights on the front of the remote to blink.
4. Quickly press and release the red SYNC button on the inside of the white flap on the front of the Wii console.
5. When the Player LED stops blinking stops and remains lit, syncing is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number (1 through 4).

This sync procedures described above must be followed for each additional Wii Remote added to the system. If you'd like additional information about Wii remote troubleshooting and repairing your remotes and your Wii system, go online and find a good Wii repair guide. It will save you a lot of money, time, and grief in the future.

I Have a Canon powershot S3 what kind of optical slave or remote flash trigger will work with it?

I do not belive it has any. Check your Canon Manuel in the back where it says References, it should have a diagram of what accessories you can or cannot you. If it does not have a remote triggering device in the references then it does not have a way to remote trigger it. You do how ever have self timer. It looks like a clock with a dot at the top of the clock. If the references does not have it check your manuel in the "Self-Timer" in that section it will have how to use the self timer and if there is a remote device for it, it will also do so in telling you want you can use.

REMOTE SENSING

REMOTE SENSING

Remote sensing can be defined as the science, art and technology of obtaining reliable information about earth objects, area or any phenomenon through the analysis of data acquired by a device (sensor) that is not in physical contact with the phenomenon under investigation.

The major objective of remote sensors is to detect and record energy in a selected portion of the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum, the detection is made possible because of TON/colour enhancing contrast between object or phenomenon of interest and its back ground.

The development of remote sensing technology have had a profound reflection on many human activities in some of this activities, new concept have being given confirmation also new perspective have been open to scientist.

Generally speaking, in remote sensing recording and acquisition of data and information of some properties of object or phenomenon are carried out through the use of instrument either stationery or on board mobile plat form.

Remote sensing techniques have find its application in the following fields geology, mineral resources, fisheries, Agriculture, soil mapping, land use/cover mapping, range land, water bodies, wildlife ecology, environmental assessment, and forestry (tree species identification, timber cruising, forest damage assessment, monitoring logging and reforestation, forest land appraisal, timber harvest planning and assessing application of herbicides and fertilizer In forest stands, assessing plant vigor and health in forest nursery).

TYPES OF REMOTE SENSORS

There are two [2] types of remote sensors.

  • Passive remote sensor
  • Active remote sensor

PASSIVE REMOTE SENSOR: these are sensors which make use of natural radiation either reflected or emitted from the earth. They do not emit energy but simply detect energy that is reflected or propagated back to the sensing device. E.g, the human eye, ear and photographic camera used without flash.

The eye detects energy in the visible portion of the electromagnetic spectrum while the ear detects sound energy. The photographic camera used in daylight without flash is a passive remote sensor.

ACTIVE REMOTE SENSORS: these are sensors that produce their own electromagnetic radiation. They emit energy to the target under investigation and collect the reflected emittions E.g LIDAR, RADAR and photographic camera used with flash

STAGES IN REMOTE SENSING PROCESS

Two stages are involves in remote sensing.

(1)    Data collection:- This stage involves the use of sensors to acquire data on photographic film or as digital data.

(2)    Data analysis: - This stage involves the critical interpretation of data collected by sensors in order to provide meaningful information. This may be visual interpretation (airphotos) or digital analysis (satellite imagery).
