A simple way to create a lead-generation video is to create a few slides in slideshow applications like PowerPoint and then record a talk-track over them. While this sounds too simplistic to really be effective, testing data tells a different story! When done correctly, a PowerPoint video can be a very effective lead-generation method.

If you have a business, whether it is a bricks and mortar business or an online business, you can always use additional leads. Especially if they are targeted prospects who are already searching for products and services like yours, and are ready to buy. One of the best and easiest ways to get these targeted leads is to create a very specific lead-generation, or opt-in, page. Sure, you can build an html page that includes just text and maybe a picture, but to really grab people's attention, a video works great.

You might suspect that using a live action video, showing you talking to the camera, would be the best option. Much of the time, you'd be wrong! Unless you can look very comfortable on camera, this is not your best option. All too many videos show the nervous business owner glancing to the side (maybe at a script he or she is reading), not knowing what to do with their hands, and basically looking a bit 'shifty.' While this is common, and very understandable, it does not encourage new viewers to want to do business with you!

Most people can sound friendly and confident when reading PowerPoint slides on their computer screen, though. Remember to smile as you talk, even though they can't see you. It is possible to hear a smile. And if you want to appear in your video, choose a good photo of you and put that into a slide. Now you have the best of both worlds. People can hear your voice, your enthusiasm about your products and services, and maybe even see your place of business or a photo of you. And they will also be getting the information you want to share with them through your spoken words, text and images.

Keep your lead-generation video short. Focus on the action you want your viewer to take, and make it just one action. When you are doing lead-generation, the action you want your viewer to take is to opt-in to your list, visit your bricks-and-mortar store, pick up the phone and call, or visit a certain website. It's best if you can get them to give you some contact information, such as name and email, phone number, or maybe even a mailing address. Only ask for information you will use, however, since the more personal information you request, the fewer numbers of people will actually do what you are asking them to do.
