World Leaders Bring Back Electric Cars
The fate of electric cars seems to be sparking still and not completely gone. This is primarily because soon enough, electric cars would again be on the streets and roads. Well, not exactly for every day use and for ownership, but at least, they would be used by world leaders of leading industrialized countries and democracies. Maybe there is hope, after all.
These leaders would include those who lead countries like the United States, Russia, Britain, France, Japan, Germany, Canada, as well as Italy. They would be using the electric cars during the G8 Summit. This summit would be held this summer, July 15th to the 17th in St. Petersburg, Russia. GEM electric vehicles would be the ones to be used by these country leaders. And in part of such a big event, the government of Russia under the supervision of their president, Vladimir Putin, took part of the budget to purchase thirty GEM electric vehicles which could take in four passengers inside its cabin - these vehicles are also called as e4. They also made sure that each of the vehicles is personalized. They would be putting the participating country's official logo as well as flag on the GEM electric vehicle.
GEM and e4 vehicles are created Global Electric Motors, LLC. Rick Kasper is its president and chief operating officer. He states, "GEM electric vehicles will offer the participating leaders with an environmentally-friendly transportation option while attending the G8 summit. It is an honor for GEM to be participating in this important international event for the second time." Indeed, the first time GEM took part in such a grand event was back in 2004 during that year's G8 Summit which was held in Sea Island, Georgia.
What is good about GEM electric vehicles is that it has zero emissions. It also is clean and provides a ride that is quiet and very efficient. It also is affordable compared to using the usual kinds of vehicles.

Gm Talks With United Auto Workers: Deal Sweetener Offered
Talks between the United Auto Workers and General Motors Corp. are still ongoing but recent reports state that a substantial signing bonus for active workers could play a major role that could lead to a contract between the UAW and GM.
If the deal pushes through General Motors (the producer of high quality Saab motor mount) would have to make a one-time cash payment to workers plus it could give union leaders a contract that they can offer to members without the having to enter into a long-term commitment with GM that will obligate the automaker into entering something which it won’t be able to afford paying at the end. This was according to unnamed sources cited by the Autos Insider.
The offered deal can be considered more of an enticement to encourage the United Auto Workers to continue with the talks and to finally reach an agreement with the automaker that is favorable to both parties. And since no deal was made for the third straight meetings with the Union, talks were resumed the next day after negotiators have decided to call it a day last Monday.
Some of the concerns discussed during the talks include alternative compensation models that could help shield workers and retirees from future uncertainty that is according to source familiar with the talks. It was agreed by both sides that they should come up with a deal that would bear no negative effect on retirees and workers.
Last Sunday a day before the talks, there were already speculations circulating that it’s either a deal was reached or the talks were breaking down. Then the next day, Monday, the AUW and negotiators from GM have resumed talks to come up with a deal.
The bargaining that has transpired was taken conducted on a cautious, methodical manner as the company and the UAW leaders have painstakingly gone over every numbers and politics of the proposal. The discussions continued until evening unfortunately no deal was reached.
GM’s Chief Executive Officer Rick Wagoner is actively involved in the negotiations and even cancelled an appearance in Washington at a Commerce Department summit including his meeting with Michigan’s congressional delegation just to focus on the talks with the UAW. He also canceled his meeting with the CEO’s of Detroit’s Big Three which was scheduled quarterly.
The talks between GM and the UAW are very important since it would also shape the contracts between the union and other two Detroit automakers namely Ford and Chrysler.

Take Me to Your Leader $9.99 MF Doom's Big Dada project Take Me to Your Leader (as King Geedorah) is a monster-movie concept record, featuring a parade of tracks and samples that conform to the age of Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, and of course, the mighty King Ghidorah -- a three-headed monster from outer space. Most of the film references are going on in the background while guest rappers contribute their own rhymes; while MF Doom the producer deserves a lot of credit for flooding the production space with beats, effects, samples, and plenty of crackling movie dialogue, the combination of high-profile arrangement and dense rapping is nearly overwhelming. "Fastlane" floats a good rap from Biolante, but he's drowned out by the production, with a squealing guitar sample stuck on auto-repeat for three minutes. For "Krazy World," Gigan spits his thin, throaty lyrics over another simple sample, this one a string-heavy descent that often cuts out and back in with no warning, but hangs on for more than a minute after Gigan's rap is finished. For what it's worth, MF Doom's two vocal features make up for much of the mentalist madness. Though the first, "The Final Hour," is far too short, "Anti-Matter" (with Mr. Fantastik) allows the rappers to shine over a swinging, groovy soundtrack. A cold, pummeling, relentless record, Take Me to Your Leader is a quintessential side project: far more extreme and uninviting than Doom could afford to be on his solo-billed records. ~ John Bush |
